Weather Monitoring and Safety Procedures
Five years ago, we invested in a state-of-the-art weather monitoring system called Perry Weather, which is installed at the center of our camp. This system includes a siren and warning lights and plays a critical role in our safety protocols. Its primary function is to alert us when lightning is within a 10-mile radius. When the system is activated, we immediately clear all outdoor areas, including water-based activities. We rely fully on Perry Weather’s radar and alerts for storm and lightning tracking, and we ask all camp leaders to follow its guidance without exception. In addition to audible alerts, Perry Weather sends real-time updates through email and the app, helping us stay well-informed of approaching weather, this includes rain, winds, etc. Below is an example of the information we received from Perry Weather.
